A web design project exploring the medium’s inherent flexibility and responsiveness resulted in an interactive narrative based on Sylvia Plath’s “Fig Tree” passage from The Bell Jar. The narrative advances through user interaction, mirroring the writing’s content both visually and structurally. The site was then adapted into a traditional short film format, translating the interactive web experience into a fixed temporal sequence.

Translated into a fixed temporal sequence, the film removes the viewer’s agency to navigate the narrative. Where the web version allowed users to control the pacing through interaction, the film’s predetermined timing renders the progression inevitable—a formal shift that reinforces Plath’s exploration of constraint and powerlessness.
